"THE RULES" FOR PUPPIES

This module is an excellent starting point for puppies emerging from the marker class as it lays the groundwork for understanding the “no” marker through context. Over the course of four engaging weeks, we will focus on impulse control activities that naturally introduce the concept of saying “no.”

Our sessions will include crate games, proper handling techniques, and exercises that promote coming to you and backing up. Additionally, we’ll practice greeting strangers and address common issues like jumping and barking, ensuring a well-rounded foundation for your pup’s training journey.

BASIC OBEDIENCE

Basic obedience forms the foundation of effective dog training, and at Nosy Puppers, we emphasize mastering these vital skills. This four-week journey goes beyond the familiar sit and down commands you may have practiced in your kitchen. We will start with focus, the essential first step that enables real training to happen, and then we will dive into the classic commands of sit, down, and stand.

You’ll be amazed at the innovative techniques we use to help your dog learn. The experience is enjoyable and deeply rewarding. As you witness your pup respond to your cues with enthusiasm, your bond grows stronger with understanding and respect.

LOOSE LEASH WALKING

Imagine the freedom of walking your dog without the constant tug of the leash, creating a harmonious bond between you and your furry friend. Our Loose Leash Walking class transforms challenging walks into enjoyable adventures, helping you and your pup navigate the world side by side with ease.

In just four weeks, you’ll learn the art of leash pressure and how the right harness keeps your dog by your side while mastering speed changes and sharp turns. Sign up today for stress-free strolls where you and your dog can explore together without frustration.

LEAVE IT!

A reliable leave it command is vital for you and your dog, paving the way for safe adventures and delightful outings. Imagine your dog naturally steering clear of dangers and sidestepping distractions, resulting in tranquil walks without worries about unexpected encounters. This command empowers you to redirect your pup from undesirable situations while deepening their trust in you.

Throughout four weeks, we will concentrate on perfecting the leave it command using practical strategies that reflect real-life experiences, ensuring your dog becomes well-behaved and a pleasure to walk beside.

COME!

Our Come! class focuses on ensuring your dog responds joyfully every time you call, regardless of distractions. Over an engaging four-week program, you will participate in a variety of fun exercises that reinforce the importance of your pup returning to you, including restrained recalls, call-aways from food, and transitioning from a wait to a sit in front.

This structured approach not only enhances your dog’s responsiveness but also cultivates a bond rooted in understanding. Embark on this delightful journey with us and witness your pup develop confidence and reliability.

AKC S.T.A.R. PUPPY

The S.T.A.R. Puppy program, offered by the AKC, serves as an essential step towards the Canine Good Citizen CGC exam. This class introduces the fundamental skills that will later be tested in the more challenging CGC exams, essentially breaking down complex behaviors into manageable components for your puppy.

The S.T.A.R. evaluation consists of 20 different tests, with eleven focused on the owner’s performance. It’s a collaborative journey for you and your pup. The nine puppy-specific tests cover critical skills, including handling, obedience commands, waiting and staying, coming when called, and walking nicely on a leash. Every beginning module within the Nosy Puppers program is designed to equip you and your puppy with the necessary skills to successfully complete the S.T.A.R. exam.

Puppies under the age of one year are eligible to earn the S.T.A.R. medal, while older dogs can participate in the class but won’t receive the medal from the AKC.
